Hashim Amla First South African Cricketer to Score a Triple Hundred in Test Cricket


Hasim Amla's 311 not out from 529 balls lasted 790 minutes, contained 35 boundaries and broke AB de Villiers' 278 not out(against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi in 2010-11) as the highest Test score by a South African batsman in the 1st Test against England at Oval on Sunday July 23,2012.
Hasim Amla's previous highest score, 253 not out against India in Nagpur, in 2009/10.
Hasim Amla made 311 not out as South Africa declared at 637 for two, a first innings lead of 252.
Hasim Amla and Jacques Kallis (182 not out)  put on an unbeaten 377 for the third wicket, a record for any wicket in matches between England and South Africa.


Earlier Hasim Amla and captain Graeme Smith added 259 for the second wicket also a record against England.
