Julia Gillard(Leader of Labor Party and 27th PM of Australia)

Julia Eileen Gillard (DOB Sep 29, 1961) is an Australian Politician and Leader of Labor Party and 27th PM of Australia since June 24,2010 and is the first woman to hold either office
Julia was first elected to the 'House of Representatives at the1998 Federal Election for the seat of Lalor,Victoria.
Julia Gillard was elected to the Shadow Cabinet and was given the portfolio of Population and Immigration. In 2003, she took on responsibility for both Reconciliation and Indigenous Affairs and Health,following the 2001 Federal Election
Julia Gillard was elected unopposed as deputy to Kevin Rudd when he was elected as Labor Leader and became Leader of the Opposition in Dec 2006

Julia Gillard became the First Female Deputy Prime Minister of Australia upon Labor's victory in the 2007 Federal Election and served as the Minister for Education and Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations.

Julia Gillard was elected unopposed as the Leader of the Labor Party, thus becoming the 27th Prime Minister of Australia, after Kevin Rudd lost the support of his party and resigned on June 24,2010

 

 Julia Gillard was able to form a Minority Govt with the support of a Green Party MP and 3 Independent MPs, defeating the Liberal/National Coalition led by Tony Abbott in the 2010 Federal Election
