Utility crews from Maine to Michigan and into Canada worked to restore power to more than half a million homes that were left in the dark by last weekend's ice storm, which has been linked to 27 deaths.

More than 200,000 power customers in Michigan alone remained without power Monday morning. Consumers Energy spokesman Dan Bishop said some customers could be without power on Christmas Day or longer. The current outages are down from nearly 400,000 customers who were without power after the storms hit
In Canada, 10 people were reported dead, 7 were the result of carbon monoxide poisoning from people using generators or barbecues to stay warm after losing power and heat.

The ice storm last weekend was one of the worst to hit during a Christmas week, and repair crews were working around the clock to restore service
