2014 Turkish Presidential Election Sunday Aug 10,2014

The first round of the Presidential elections will be held in Turkey on August 10,2014, directly for the first time. If no candidate achieves a simple majority, a second round will be held on August 24,2014

Voting overseas began on July 31,2014 and ended on August 03,2014
2,783,660 overseas citizens were eligible to vote in 54 countries, and voting took place in 103 consulates

Erdogan Wins Presidential Election


Outgoing PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan has hailed his victory in Turkey's first direct presidential election as a new era for the country.
He told thousands of supporters from the balcony of his AK Party's HQ in Ankara his victory was for all Turks, not just those who had voted for him.
Erdogan secured about 52% of the vote, to avoid any run-off.
Erdogan has been prime minister since 2003 and was barred from standing for another term
Erdogan will be inaugurated on August.28,2014
