TVS Racing Appoints Shreya Iyer as Team's First Woman Racer


TVS Racing has announced its first woman rider - Shreya Sunder Iyer, who will be representing the racing team in the Indian National Rally Championship this year. The association also makes Shreya, the first woman rider to be a part of any racing team in India.

Shreya Iyer has been riding since the age of 17 and is the first Indian woman rider to successfully complete a ride across the sand dunes in Dubai. She has extensively toured across India including the isolated Suru valley in the Himalayas and has completed the Southern India biking expedition of 2000 km in just six days.

Newly inducted to the TVS Racing team, Shreya said, "I am proud to be a part of the TVS Racing team. This association will help me work with the best in class machines, racers and technology. I also hope to encourage young bikers especially women to follow their passion for racing and live their dreams."

The 24-year-old intends to build a career in cross country rally racing and will be riding a TVS Apache RTR this season.
TVS Racing is equally excited to have her on board and is seeing the move as an encouragement for other women to consider racing as a career.

In a statement, Arvind Pangaonkar, Head of Team TVS Racing said, "We are happy to sign Shreya for the TVS Racing team. TVS Racing is strongly committed to promote two wheeler racing in India and generate interest and improve support for the sport in India. We make continuous efforts to take the sport to as many section of the society as possible and create the ultimate machine and promote the riders for these machines."

TVS Racing's illustrious 33-year history is spread across on and off-roading events like road racing, Super-cross and Motocross, and Dirt Tracks, rally, among others. The association with TVS Racing will certainly help Shreya grow and enhance her skills on track. Apart from its participation in national racing championships, TVS Racing also holds credit for being the first Indian factory team to take part in the Dakar rally in 2015.
