2017 India Tour of Sri Lanka - Hashan Tillakaratne Named Temporary Batting Coach of Sri Lanka

Former skipper Hashan Tillakaratne has been roped in as the temporary batting coach of the Sri Lanka team.

Having started working with the senior team ahead of the one-off Test against Zimbabwe, Tillakaratne will as of now continue till the end of the India series before a call is taken on the matter.

Sri Lanka Cricket manager Asanka Gurusinha told  about the development. "Hashan has been with us since the recent Test match against Zimbabwe, actually.

At this stage, for all the Tests he will be batting coach.

Most probably after the Indian series we'll discuss with coach Nic Pothas and see what's happening from there. With all his experience, there is a lot the batsmen can learn from him."

Tillakaratne led Sri Lanka in 11 Test matches and had scored 11 centuries in 83 Test matches.

He was also an integral part of Arjun Ranatunga’s World Cup-winning team in 1996.

Tillakaratne also served as national selector between January 2013 and April 2015.
