On This Day Dec 16 1997 Aussie woman cricketer Belinda Clark. Scored ODI's First Double Century

If one was to say that the first double ton in ODIs didn't come from Sachin Tendulkar's bat, no one is going to believe that.

But surprisingly, the first double ton came a good 13 years before the Master Blaster got one, and it came through the bat of Aussie woman cricketer Belinda Clark.

It was the women's World Cup in 1997, and Australia were facing lowly Denmark at Mumbai.

Belinda Clark was just too good on the day and smashed Danish bowlers all round the park.

Belinda Clark finished at 229 runs from just 155 balls, that included 22 fours.

Belinda Clark's innings took the Aussie total to 412/3, a record at that time.

Also Belinda Clark's innings was the highest individual score ever, before Rohit Sharma broke it with a 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014.

In the match, Aussies bowled out Denmark for just 49 runs, and won the match by 363 runs.
