Google Doodle,Google Doodle 2019,Google Doodle 2018

A Google Doodle is a special, momentary modification of the logo on Google’s homepages that celebrates events, people and achievements. The first ever Google Doodle was in 1998, which honoured the Burning Man festival. It was designed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin to let users know about their absence if the servers crashed.
Last year, the Google Doodle featured a bunch of penguins and parrots on December 31.

Indian Cricket Captain Virat Kohli ends 2018 as highest international run-getter for third consecutive year

It has been a brilliant year for India skipper Virat Kohli and with 2,653 runs in the current calendar year, he recorded the highest runs by any batsmen. This was the third consecutive year where Kohli ended up as the highest run-getter after scoring 2,595 in 2016 and 2,818 runs in 2017.
Kohli top-scored in the three-match series against South Africa at the start of this year with 286 runs, before registering a record-hauling 593 runs in the contest against England in summer. In Australia, he did not start well but went on to score his 25th Test century en route to his patient score of 123 runs of 257 balls in Perth.
Virat Kohli added another feather to his cap on Sunday as he equalled Sourav Ganguly’s record of 11 away Test wins as captain. Winning outside India has been an area of concern for Indian teams over the years, but first under Ganguly and now under Kohli, the team has looked to change their overseas record and the 137-run win at the historic Melbourne Cricket Ground once again signalled that intent in this team under Kohli.
India completed a 137-run victory over Australia in the third test after a rain-delayed start on day five at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.
India retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy contested between the nations and take a 2-1 lead in the series into the fourth and final test in Sydney starting on Thursday Jan 03,2019

Non subsidised LPG cylinder price cut by Rs 120.50

Giving a new year gift to the people, the Narendra Modi led NDA Govt has announced major reduction in LPG prices. The price of subsidised LPG cylinder has been cut by Rs 5.91, while the rate of non-subsidised LPG cylinder has been reduced by Rs 120.50, said Indian Oil Corporation.
A 14.2-kg subsidised LPG cylinder will cost Rs 494.99 in the national capital from midnight tonight as against Rs 500.90 currently, Indian Oil Corp (IOC), the country’s largest fuel retailer, said in a statement. This is the second straight monthly reduction in LPG rate. On December 1, subsidised LPG price was cut by Rs 6.52 per bottle, after six consecutive monthly hikes in rates.
The two price reductions have mostly negated the Rs 14.13 per cylinder increase in rates between June 2018 and Nov 2018. IOC said non-subsidised or market priced LPG rates have been cut by a steep Rs 120.50 per cylinder “due to fall in price of LPG in international market and strengthening of US dollar-rupee exchange rate.”
All LPG consumers have to buy the fuel at market price. The government, however, subsidises 12 cylinders of 14.2-kg each per households in a year by providing the subsidy amount directly in bank accounts of users.
This subsidy amount varies from month to month depending on the changes in the average international benchmark LPG rate and foreign exchange rate

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina - All You Need To Know

Hasina served as prime minister from 1996 to 2001, after defeating her archrival Khaleda Zia, who eventually regained power in 2001.

In 1990, the two female politicians, nicknamed the "battling begums", forged an unlikely alliance in order to overthrow military dictator Hussain Muhammad Ershad.

However, their mutual dislike and distrust, played out by supporters in violent street protests, was blamed for the January 2007 crisis that prompted the military to step in, impose military rule and install a caretaker government.

Both women were arrested and jailed by the then army-backed interim government as part of its crackdown on corruption

Hasina and Khaleda Zia were both eventually released in order to take part in the poll

In 1975, most of her family members were killed in a coup, including her mother, three brothers and her father, the then president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who led the country in its liberation struggle against Pakistan in 1971.

Hasina and her sister were abroad at the time of the 1975 assassinations

In August 2004, she survived yet another assassination attempt at a political rally. The grenade attack left more than 20 people dead and her car was peppered with bullets as she fled the scene

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina casts her vote in the morning during the general election in Dhaka, Bangladesh, December 30, 2018.
Hasina's Awami League (AL) party is on course to get an absolute majority in the 350-seat parliament, called as Jatiya Sangsad in the 2018 Bangladesh General Eletion held on Sunday Dec 30,2018

Fifty seats are reserved for women.

The Awami League is Bangladesh's oldest party and was formed in 1948 after the foundation of East Pakistan - as the country was known before gaining independence from Pakistan. The party is widely regarded as being broadly pro-India.

Top 10 countries most at risk of humanitarian disaster in 2019

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) has named the countries most at risk of being hit by humanitarian catastrophe next year, with Yemen, the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan topping the top 10 list.
As wars, famines and other disasters loom over several countries, 2019 is set to be another arduous year for millions of people around the world.
The next seven at-risk countries identified by the IRC's emergency response experts are AfghanistanVenezuela, the Central African RepublicSyriaNigeriaEthiopia and Somalia.
The risks are both human (armed conflicts or economic collapse) as well as natural (droughts, floods and other climate-related events).
Internal or external displacement is the defining trend in the IRC list. Around 40 million people have been displaced across the world, with the top 10 countries accounting for over half - or nearly 22 million - of those displacements.
The 10 countries also account for at least 13 million refugees, 65 percent of the global total, plus an additional three million people who have fled Venezuela.

Three-hundred seats were up for grabs in the 350-member parliament, or Jatiya Sangshad, in Sunday's elections.Another 50 seats are reserved for women.

An AL-led coalition won a massive 288 seats, while the main opposition alliance dominated by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secured just six

Hasina, who has headed the AL since 1981, went into the polls on the back of a decade of impressive GDP growth and booming garment exports. Bangladesh is the world's second-largest exporter of garments after China.

The 71-year-old leader is set for a record fourth term in office in the South Asian Muslim-majority nation of 160 million.

She has been applauded for hosting nearly one million Rohingya refugees who took shelter in Bangladesh after fleeing a brutal military offensive in neighbouring Myanmar.

But critics have accused Hasina of authoritarianism and crippling the opposition. Her bitter political rival and leader of the BNP, Khaleda Zia, 73, is serving a 17-year jail term for corruption.

Foods And Drinks To Manage Cholesterol Levels

1. Lemon Water:  Lemon is a great source of soluble fibre that works as a sponge. It absorbs water in your digestive tract and forms a viscous mass, which catches bad cholesterol or LDL and removes it from your body.

2. Pomegranate Juice: Pomegranate juice is packed with antioxidants, which are known to prevent hardening of the arteries and may even reverse the development of the problem. Antioxidants are thought to provide several heart-protecting benefits, including reducing low-density lipoprotein (LDL, or "bad") cholesterol.

3. Walnuts: Walnuts are rich in vitamin B, vitamin E and omega 3. Eating walnuts may slow down the growth of plaque in your arteries and prevent blood clots. Moreover, omega-3s help reduce triglycerides in the bloodstream and also protect the heart by preventing the onset of abnormal heart rhythms.

4. Oats: One of the best ways to lower cholesterol is to have a bowlful of oatmeal. Oatmeal contains soluble fibre that reduces LDL or bad cholesterol. The fibre present can reduce the absorption of cholesterol into your bloodstream

Dale Steyn becomes South Africa's leading Test Match Wicket Taker surpassing Shaun Polloock Dec 26,2018

Dale Steyn has become South Africa's leading Test wicket-taker by dismissing Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman in the first Test at SuperSport Park, Centurion on Day 01 Wednesday Dec 26,2018

Fakhar edged to Dean Elgar at second slip to give Steyn his 422nd wicket and take him past Shaun Pollock, whose record had stood since he quit in 2008.

Dale Steyn statistically became South Africa’s greatest bowler on Wednesday when he climbed top of the country’s leading Test wicket-takers list.

On the first day of the series against Pakistan, Steyn, who has been plagued by injury for the last three years, had opener Fakhar Zaman (12) caught at second slip to move to 422 Test wickets, taking outright top spot on South Africa's all-time list from Shaun Pollock.

It has taken Steyn 89 Tests to reach that mark, 19 fewer than his former team-mate, and his strike rate of a wicket every 42.1 balls is only bettered among current players by compatriot Kagiso Rabada (39.2).

The leading South African Test bowlers

Pacific Ring of Fire

How big is the Pacific Ring of Fire?
The Ring of Fire dominates the Pacific Ocean. It's a string of at least 450 active and dormant volcanoes that form a semi-circle, or horse shoe, around the Philippine Sea plate, the Pacific Plate, Juan de Fuca and Cocos plates, and the Nazca Plate. There is a lot of seismic activity in the area.
About 90 percent of all earthquakes strike within the Ring of Fire. This means people's lives are under almost constant threat in Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and other island nations like the Solomon Islands, Fiji, and many more in Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia, all the way east to the western seaboard of the North and South Americas. Although levels of threat differ depending on local factors like your proximity to the quake's epicenter, whether it's out to sea or on land - and standards of housing.

Why so many volcanoes in the Ring of Fire?
The tectonic plates move non-stop over a layer of partly solid and partly molten rock. This is called the Earth's mantle. When the plates collide or move apart, for instance, the Earth moves, literally. Mountains, like the Andes in South America and the Rockies in North America, as well as volcanoes have formed through the collision of tectonic plates.
Many volcanoes in the Ring of Fire were created through a process of subduction. And most of the planet's subduction zones happen to be located in the Ring of Fire.

What is subduction?
Subduction happens when tectonic plates shift, and one plate is shoved under another. This movement of the ocean floor produces a "mineral transmutation," which leads to the melting and solidification of magma - that is, the formation of volcanoes. Basically, when a "downgoing" oceanic plate is shoved into a hotter mantle plate, it heats up, volatile elements mix, and this produces the magma. The magma then rises up through the overlying plate and spurts out at the surface.

Plattentektonik: Ozeanische Erdkruste bewegt sich und taucht ab ENG

If, however, the overlying plate is ocean, it can produce a chain of volcanic islands like the Marianas. This is also where we see the Earth's deepest trenches and deepest Earthquakes.

When and where were the worst earthquakes in the Ring of Fire?
The worst earthquake in the Ring of Fire - and, with it, the world - struck Chile on May 22, 1960. It was a 9.5-magnitude quake. That's according to the US Geological Survey's list of the "Largest Earthquakes in the World Since 1900."
It's closely followed by the Great Alaska Earthquake of 1964 (magnitude 9.2), the Northern Sumatra earthquake - also known as the Indian Ocean Tsunami - on December 26, 2004 (magnitude 9.1), and one off the East Coast of Honshu, Japan, on March 11, 2011 (magnitude 9.0), which led to a tsunami and ultimately the nuclear disaster at Fukushima.

Gaganyaan is an Indian crewed orbital spacecraft that is intended to send 3 astronauts to space for a minimum of seven days by 2022, as part of the Indian Human Spaceflight Programme.

The spacecraft, which is being developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro), consists of a service module and a crew module, collectively known as the Orbital Module.

It will be for the first time that India will launch its manned mission to space, making the country fourth in line to have sent a human to space.

Isro's Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle GSLV Mk III, the three-stage heavy-lift launch vehicle, will be used to launch Gaganyaan as it has the necessary payload capability.

GSLV Mk III is designed to carry 4 ton class of satellites into Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) or about 10 tons to Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The powerful cryogenic stage of GSLV Mk III enables it to place heavy payloads into LEO's of 600 km altitude.

The launcher uses two S200 solid rocket boosters to provide the huge amount of thrust required for lift off.

10 things you must know about India's ambitious mission

1)The crew module, in which the three astronauts will leave for space, will be made of 3.7-metre diameter and seven-metre height.

2)According to G Madhavan Nair, former Isro chief: The mission will enable ISRO to achieve higher levels of reliability in launch and satellite technology. It will help in providing employment to 15,000 people and out of them, 861 will be from Isro.

3)The human spaceflight will take 16 minutes to reach the orbit where it will stay for five to seven days.

4)The spacecraft will be placed in a low earth orbit of 300-400 km.

5)The Indian space agency displayed the Gaganyaan crew model and orange space suits at the Bengaluru Space Expo's 6th edition earlier this year. The space suit were developed at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Thiruvananthapuram.

6)With the ability to hold one oxygen cylinder, the suit will allow the astronaut to breathe in space for 60 minutes.

7)The capsule will rotate around the Earth every 90 minutes, and astronauts will be able to witness sunrise and sunset. The three astronauts will be able to see India from space every 24 hours, while they conduct experiments on micro-gravity.

8)For its return, the capsule will take 36 hours, and will land in the Arabian Sea, just off the coast of Gujarat.

9)Rs. 10,000-crore mission will be a turning point in India's space journey. Isro has developed some critical technologies like re-entry mission capability, crew escape system, crew module configuration, thermal protection system, deceleration and flotation system, sub-systems of life support system required for Mission Gaganyaan.

10)Isro will receive assistance from the French space agency CNES, in terms of expertise various fields including space medicine, astronaut health monitoring, radiation protection and life support.

Former India batsman WV Raman appointed as the new coach of the India women's cricket team

Former India batsman WV Raman has been appointed as the new coach of the India women's team, who lost in the semi-finals of the recent World Twenty20.

India are currently third in the women's world ODI rankings and fifth in the T20 category.

India lost to England by 8 wickets in the World T20 semi-final in Antigua last month.

The 53-year-old, who played 11 Tests and 27 one-day internationals from 1988-97, replaces Ramesh Powar.

Raman has coached India U19, Bengal and Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy and becomes the fourth coach of the women's team within the last 20 months.

Gary Kirsten was the preferred choice but was not able to accept the post.

A committee comprising former India internationals Anshuman Gaekwad, Kapil Dev and Shantha Rangswamy recommended ex-South Africa batsman Kirsten to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

But Kirsten - who coached the India men's team to success at the 2011 World Cup, before a two-year spell in charge of his native South Africa, was not prepared to leave his post as head coach of Indian Premier League side Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

W V Raman was the second choice, with former India fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad, who has worked as India's men's bowling coach and has also coached with Kings XI Punjab and RCB, the third recommended candidate.
